Map Name: The Poor War (PoorWar.mp2) Map Maker: Andy Gels E-Mail Address: ajgels@hotmail.com Map Type: Small Single Or Multiplayer. 3 human/computer knights Rated Hard. May feel normal on singleplayer but harder on multiplayer Language: English Description: The land is so poor, it's only habitable by peasants. In fact, given the right time, even peasants won't be able to live here! Special Win: None Special Loss: Fail to win by Month 2, Week 4, Day 1 Play-Testers: Andy Gels (ajgels@hotmail.com) Shawn Malaney (smalaney@ksni.net) Here's the story: The map's most prevalent theme is poverty. The king is running out of gold. He only has enough gold to support you and peasants. The reason he is running out of gold is because of a nasty curse known as the "Undead Handbag." Because of it, all the champions, crusaders, etc. fled, looking for better income. The towns in this map only have the peasants huts and farms. There are no taverns. However, just because there are no taverns does NOT mean there are no rumors! I put in some rumors in events each week. However, unlike most rumors, you only get them once! A LITTLE ADVICE FROM THE MAPMAKER 1) Try a strategy like you would in "Pandemonium." That is, try to trade peasants so one hero can attack. However... 2) Trade peasants wisely! Also remember that you might (I'm not sure) be trading a lot in this map. 3) Read rumors but remember you get them just one time! I'd write them down on paper. 4) This map will hopefully teach you to become less dependent on magic. 5) Visit the spying tower in the No Man's Valley. 6) Don't lose track of time, even after you've captured your enemies' towns! 7) Don't go too slow! 8) If you place your troops just right in battle, you can suffer no casualties. Unfortunately, when I played, the challenge was still a tad less than I had hoped. If you want a good, climatic ending, I suggest capturing a couple of the heroes on one side, then the very lightly-defended town, then the remaining heroes. It may even help you finish more quickly! I replayed using red, and I won in just a month! In either event, I apologize if the ending is anti-climatic and I did the best I could to make it climatic. Good Luck On This Hard Map!
